- Tips
- Your Discord username only takes lowercase letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Styled text works in your display name, server nicknames, About me and messages.
- Messages hold 2,000 characters (4,000 with Nitro). A display name or nickname holds 32, so about 16 styled letters.
- Screen readers and some bots read styled letters badly. Keep commands and important information in plain text.
Discord fonts for messages, About me and display names
Discord's own formatting covers bold, italics, underline, strikethrough and code blocks with Markdown. For anything beyond that, such as cursive, gothic, circled or small caps, people paste look-alike Unicode characters, which is what this generator produces.
Styled letters usually take two characters each. Messages hold 2,000 characters (4,000 with Nitro), your About me 190 and a display name or server nickname 32, so a styled nickname fits about 16 letters. Choose Message, About me or Display name above and each style shows its real length against that limit.
Keep commands, links and anything a bot has to read in plain text. Bots and screen readers do not read styled letters as the words they look like.

FAQ
How do I change my font on Discord?
Discord has no font picker for messages or profiles. Type your text into the generator, copy a style, and paste it into a message, your About me, your display name or a server nickname.
Can I use fancy fonts in my Discord username?
Not in the username, which only takes lowercase letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Display names and server nicknames accept styled text, up to 32 characters.
What is the difference between this and Discord Markdown?
Markdown such as **bold** or *italics* is formatting that Discord renders itself. These styles are separate Unicode characters, so they also cover looks Markdown cannot do, like cursive or circled letters, and they keep their look when copied out of Discord.
Why is my styled message cut off?
Styled letters often count as two characters, so a long styled message can pass the 2,000-character limit sooner than plain text. Select Message to see each style's real length.
Is the Discord font generator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account, and nothing you type is uploaded.
