A social media content calendar template that fills itself in
Most content calendar templates are an empty grid you still have to lay out by hand. This one starts from your plan instead: choose the platforms you post on, how many posts a week each one gets, and the date you start. It writes one dated row per post, spreads the posts evenly across the week, and rotates your content pillars so no single theme takes over.
Every row already carries the caption limit for its platform, from 280 characters on X to 2,200 on Instagram and 3,000 on LinkedIn, so you see while writing whether a caption will fit. The other columns are the ones a calendar actually needs: format, idea, caption, hashtags, link, media file, status and notes.
To use it in Google Sheets, press Copy for Google Sheets, open a blank sheet, click cell A1 and paste. The columns fill in on their own. For Excel or Numbers, download the CSV. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
The suggested posts per week are deliberately the low end of what works on each platform: three to five feed posts on Instagram, four or more short videos on TikTok, three to five posts on LinkedIn. A calendar you keep for three months beats an ambitious one you drop in the second week. Raise the numbers once the routine holds.
When the sheet is full, the last step is still copying every caption into every app at the right time. Fuxux does that part: write the post once, adjust the caption per network, and it publishes to all of them from one calendar.

FAQ
How do I make a social media content calendar in Google Sheets?
Choose your platforms and posts per week above, press Copy for Google Sheets, open a blank sheet (sheets.new), click cell A1 and paste. Each post becomes a dated row with its platform, format, content pillar and caption limit, and you fill in the idea, caption and status as you go.
Does it work in Excel?
Yes. Download the CSV and open it in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. It is saved with the encoding Excel expects, so dashes and accented letters show correctly.
What columns should a content calendar have?
At minimum: date, platform, format, the idea, the caption and a status. This template adds the time, a content pillar, hashtags, a link, the media file, notes and each platform's caption limit, which together cover what you need to write, review and publish a post.
How many posts a week should I plan?
Start with three to five on your main platform and only add a second platform once that holds. The template suggests the low end of each platform's usual range, for example three a week on Instagram and LinkedIn and four on TikTok. You can change any number.
What are content pillars?
Three to five recurring themes your posts come back to, such as teaching something, behind the scenes, your product and your community. Rotating them keeps the feed varied and makes the next post easier to plan, because the theme is already decided.
Is the template free, and is my plan stored anywhere?
It is free and needs no sign-up. The calendar is built in your browser; nothing you enter is uploaded or saved.
