Best Metricool Alternatives for Creators in 2026
Compare Metricool alternatives for creators and small teams: Fuxux, Buffer, Planable, Later and Hootsuite, with free plans, pricing models and when Metricool still wins.

Disclosure: Independent guide from Fuxux, which is one of the tools compared. We are not affiliated with Metricool or the other tools mentioned. Prices were read from each vendor's public pricing page on 16 October 2026 and change often, so check them before you buy.
Metricool is popular for a good reason: it puts scheduling, analytics and ads reporting in one dashboard, and its pricing is built around brands rather than seats. But plenty of people sign up for the analytics and end up using it mostly as a scheduler, or they hit a wall on the free plan (no LinkedIn or X) and start looking around.
Quick answer: if you mainly schedule posts, look at Fuxux (flat price, 15 accounts from $29 a month, AI assistants built in) or Buffer (pay per channel, generous free plan). If your work runs on approvals with clients, Planable is built for that. If Instagram planning is the center, Later. If you need enterprise reporting and listening, Hootsuite. If reports and ads data drive your week, Metricool may still be the right tool.

Why people look for a Metricool alternative
The reasons come up again and again in reviews and forum threads, and most of them are about fit rather than quality:
- The free plan leaves out LinkedIn and X. Metricool's free plan covers one brand and 20 scheduled posts a month, but its pricing page says it supports all networks "except LinkedIn and Twitter".
- X costs extra. Metricool lists X/Twitter as an add-on at $10 a month per connected account, on top of the plan.
- You pay for analytics you do not open. Unlimited analytics history, competitor tracking and ads reporting are Metricool's strengths. If your week is "write, schedule, reply", that part of the price is idle.
- Brand tiers add up for agencies. Pricing steps up with the number of brands: on 16 October 2026 the page showed Starter tiers up to 5 and 10 brands, and Advanced tiers up to 15, 25 and 50 brands.
- You want to work from an AI assistant. More creators now draft in Claude or ChatGPT and want the post scheduled from the same chat, not copied into a dashboard.
None of these make Metricool a bad tool. They are signs that your workflow and the tool's focus have drifted apart.
What to compare before you switch
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Which networks do you actually post to? | Check each must-have network, including the free plan and any add-on fees (X is the common one). |
| How is the price counted? | Per brand (Metricool), per channel (Buffer), per workspace (Planable), per user (Hootsuite) or flat by account count (Fuxux). Price your real setup, not the headline number. |
| How deep do you need analytics? | If you report to clients every month, analytics depth may matter more than scheduling. |
| Do you need approvals? | Client sign-off before publishing is a different product category. See our approval workflow guide. |
| Where do you write? | If drafts start in an AI assistant, a scheduler that the assistant can use directly saves the copy-paste step. |
Best Metricool alternatives in 2026
1. Fuxux: for creators who mainly schedule
Fuxux is the scheduler we build, so weigh this section accordingly. It focuses on publishing: write a post once, adapt the caption per network, and schedule it to 12 platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, Discord, Twitch and Kick) from one calendar.
- Pricing: a Free plan with 5 posts a month and no card (X is not included on Free). Creator is $29 a month for 15 connected accounts and unlimited posts, Growth $49 for 50 accounts, Pro $99 for unlimited accounts and team invites. Yearly billing lowers each one.
- Different from Metricool: price is flat by account count, with no per-brand tiers and no X add-on on paid plans. You can also connect Fuxux to AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Gemini CLI and schedule posts from the chat.
- Where it is weaker: analytics are lighter. Engagement numbers cover Facebook, Instagram and Threads; there is no ads reporting, competitor tracking or Looker Studio connector.
Choose it if: you used Metricool mostly as a scheduler and want more accounts, LinkedIn and X without add-ons, or posting from an AI assistant.
2. Buffer: for simple queues and a free start
Buffer is the classic lightweight scheduler. Its free plan covers up to 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel. Paid plans are priced per channel: Essentials is $5 a month per channel and Team $10 a month per channel (yearly billing shown on its pricing page). It supports the main networks, including Mastodon and Substack.
Choose it if: you post to a few channels and want the lowest entry price. Watch out for: per-channel pricing grows quickly once you pass about six channels. More options in our Buffer alternatives guide.
3. Planable: for client approvals
Planable is built around collaboration and sign-off. Its pricing page listed Basic at $33 and Pro at $49 per workspace per month, with Pro adding mandatory approvals (at least one approver must sign off before anything publishes). Its free option is 50 posts in total, not per month. Basic includes 60 posts a month and 4 social pages per workspace, Pro 150 posts and 10 pages.
Choose it if: you are an agency or freelancer whose clients approve every post. Watch out for: post and page caps per workspace, and analytics as a paid add-on.
4. Later: for Instagram-first planning
Later is known for visual planning around Instagram. Its pricing page showed Starter at $18.75, Growth at $37.50 and Scale at $82.50 a month, billed yearly, with plans counted in "social sets" (one set is 8 profiles) and post limits per profile on the lower tiers. There is a 14-day trial rather than a free plan.
Choose it if: your grid and Reels plan come first. More in our Later alternatives guide.
5. Hootsuite: for larger teams and listening
Hootsuite sits at the enterprise end. Its plans page gave a starting price of $99 for Standard (10 social accounts) and $199 for Professional, priced per user, with a 14-day trial and no free plan.
Choose it if: you need social listening, enterprise permissions and a large team. For a solo creator it is usually more than the job needs. See our Hootsuite alternatives guide.
Metricool alternatives compared
| Tool | Free option | Paid entry point (16 Oct 2026) | Priced by | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metricool | 1 brand, 20 posts/month, no LinkedIn or X | From $20–25/month (Starter, up to 5 brands); X add-on $10/account | Brands | Analytics and ads reporting |
| Fuxux | 5 posts/month, no card, no X | $29/month for 15 accounts, unlimited posts | Account count (flat) | Scheduling, AI assistants |
| Buffer | 3 channels, 10 posts each | $5/month per channel | Channels | Simple queues |
| Planable | 50 posts in total | $33/month per workspace | Workspaces | Client approvals |
| Later | 14-day trial | $18.75/month (yearly), 1 social set | Social sets | Instagram planning |
| Hootsuite | 14-day trial | From $99/month per user | Users | Enterprise teams |
Headline prices hide the real cost. Price your actual setup: number of brands or accounts, networks (especially X), users, and any analytics or inbox add-ons.
When Metricool is still the right choice
A fair comparison has to say this: Metricool is strong where most schedulers are thin. Stay with it if:
- You rely on analytics with long history, competitor benchmarks or Looker Studio reports.
- You manage Facebook Ads, Google Ads or TikTok Ads reporting in the same place as organic posts.
- You run many small brands and its per-brand tiers work out cheaper than per-account pricing.
- Its free plan (20 posts a month) already covers you and you do not need LinkedIn or X.
Some people keep Metricool for reporting and use a lighter tool for daily publishing. That is a valid setup if the two together still cost less than one bigger plan.
How to switch without losing a week
- Export what you need first: download any reports or post history you want to keep before your plan ends.
- List your accounts and networks: only the ones you post to this month.
- Start on a free plan: connect two or three accounts and schedule a few real posts.
- Plan one real week: use a content calendar template so the move does not break your rhythm.
- Check each network's rules: captions have different limits per platform; our character counter checks them in one paste.
- Run both for a week, then cancel the one you do not open.
FAQ
What is the best free alternative to Metricool?
It depends on the networks you need. Buffer's free plan covers 3 channels with 10 posts each. Fuxux's free plan gives 5 posts a month across its networks except X. Planable's free option is 50 posts in total. If you need LinkedIn on a free plan, Metricool's free plan will not cover it.
Is Metricool free?
Metricool has a free plan for one brand with 20 scheduled posts a month and 30 days of analytics. According to its pricing page it covers all networks except LinkedIn and X/Twitter.
Does Metricool support X (Twitter)?
Yes, as an add-on. Its pricing page lists X at $10 a month per connected account.
Which Metricool alternative is best for agencies?
For client approvals, Planable is built around that workflow. For many accounts at a flat price, Fuxux Growth covers 50 accounts for $49 a month. For enterprise listening and permissions, Hootsuite.
Can I schedule posts from ChatGPT or Claude instead of a dashboard?
With some tools, yes. Fuxux connects to AI assistants through MCP, so you can ask the assistant to draft and schedule posts to your connected accounts. Setup guides for each assistant are on our AI agents page, and the background is in how to schedule social media posts with MCP.
Fuxux is not affiliated with Metricool, Buffer, Planable, Later, Hootsuite, Meta, TikTok, Google, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest or Bluesky. Product names belong to their owners.
The bottom line
Metricool is a strong pick when analytics and ads reporting drive your week. If you mostly write and schedule, a scheduler-first tool will usually fit better and cost less at your real account count. Price your actual setup, test with one real week of posts, and keep the tool you open every day.

I build Fuxux, a scheduler that publishes to 12 platforms from one queue. I write about the parts of posting that are actually fiddly — what each platform will and won't let you schedule natively, where the API limits bite, and how to keep a queue running without babysitting it.
